Muir Woods Day Trip
San Francisco, Pacific Coast Highway
About This Activity
Muir Woods National Monument protects one of the last stands of old-growth coast redwoods, some over 250 feet tall and 1,000 years old. The main loop trail is an easy 1-mile boardwalk through Cathedral Grove. Longer trails climb into the surrounding hills for ocean views. Parking reservations are required ($9/vehicle) and the park charges $15 per person entrance fee. Combine with a visit to Sausalito — take the ferry back to SF for a scenic round trip.
Seasonal note: Year-round; less crowded weekdays; summer weekends sell out parking reservations
