Moorish Castle Ramparts Walk
Sintra, Portugal
About This Activity
The Castle of the Moors (Castelo dos Mouros) is an 8th-century fortification snaking along the granite ridgeline between Sintra town and Pena Palace. Walking the crenellated ramparts offers 360-degree views: Pena Palace above, the Sintra plains below, and the Atlantic glinting on the horizon. The climb is steep but short. Entry is included in combined Sintra park tickets. Allow 1-1.5 hours.
Seasonal note: Best in cooler months; exposed granite ramparts are very hot in summer midday. Open daily year-round (included in Sintra park tickets). Combine with Pena Palace as both are adjacent.
