Bulguksa Temple — UNESCO World Heritage
Gyeongju, South Korea
About This Activity
Bulguksa (Temple of the Buddha Land) is South Korea's most celebrated Buddhist temple and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, representing the pinnacle of Unified Silla-era (668–935 AD) architecture. Two stone staircases — Cheongungyo (Blue Cloud) and Baengungyo (White Cloud) — symbolize the ascent from the earthly world to the Buddha's realm. The complex contains seven National Treasures including the exquisite twin pagodas Dabotap and Seokgatap. Admission has been free since April 2024. Set against Tohamsan Mountain, autumn (October–November) colours are spectacular.
Seasonal note: Year-round; cherry blossoms in April and crimson maples in October–November make for the most spectacular visits.
