Daereungwon Tumuli Park — Silla Royal Tombs
Gyeongju, South Korea
About This Activity
Daereungwon Tomb Complex (Tumuli Park) is a UNESCO-listed burial ground at the heart of Gyeongju containing 23 large tumuli of Silla royalty, some reaching 22 meters high. The park grounds are free to enter; the Cheonmachong (Flying Horse Tomb) has a separate entry fee of ₩3,000 per adult and is the only tomb open for visitors to walk inside, viewing replicas of the 11,500 grave goods found within — including the iconic painted flying-horse birchbark artifact. The park is open daily 9am–10pm. Nearby Gyeongju National Museum holds the original excavated treasures.
Seasonal note: Year-round; cherry blossoms in April and autumn foliage in October make the park especially picturesque.
