About This Activity

The Barri Gòtic is one of Europe's best-preserved medieval city centers, built atop the Roman settlement of Barcino. Highlights include remnants of original 1st-century BC Roman walls, the magnificent Barcelona Cathedral with its cloister of 13 geese, the palm-shaded Plaza Reial with wrought-iron lampposts designed by the young Gaudí, and the evocative El Call (former Jewish quarter). Get intentionally lost — the best discoveries come from ducking into unmarked archways and alleys. Free to explore; guided tours with context start around €15.

Seasonal note: Year-round; visit early morning in summer before the crowds peak around 11 AM.
