About This Activity

Montjuïc is Barcelona's 184-meter hill overlooking the city and port, accessible by cable car from Barceloneta beach or funicular from Paral·lel metro. The 17th-century Montjuïc Castle served as a military fortress and political prison and now hosts cultural events with free entry to the grounds. The Fundació Joan Miró at the hilltop is one of Spain's finest modern art museums (€15 entry). The 1992 Olympic Stadium and Palau Sant Jordi (Arata Isozaki) remain open for events. Sunset views across the city to the sea are exceptional.

Seasonal note: Year-round. Spring and early autumn offer the clearest views; the Magic Fountain light show runs Thursday–Sunday evenings.
