Royal Mile & Old Town Walk
Edinburgh, United Kingdom
About This Activity
The Royal Mile — actually about 1 mile long — runs from Edinburgh Castle down to the Palace of Holyroodhouse and is lined with medieval closes (narrow alleyways), independent whisky shops, tartan boutiques, and historic pubs. Along the way, explore the narrow closes like Mary King's Close (underground medieval street, ticketed), visit St Giles' Cathedral (free), and stop at The Elephant House cafe where J.K. Rowling wrote early Harry Potter chapters. A self-guided walk of extraordinary historical depth.
