About This Activity

Tay Ho (West Lake) is Hanoi's largest lake at 500 hectares, ringed by upscale villas, century-old pagodas, and flower villages. Rent a bicycle near Quan Thanh Temple and pedal the 17km circumference past Tran Quoc Pagoda (Vietnam's oldest Buddhist pagoda), shrimp farms, and lakeside cafes. Golden hour light on the water is spectacular. Stop at Phu Tay Ho Temple on the western peninsula — a major Taoist pilgrimage site. Bike rentals run around 40,000–50,000 VND/hour (~$2); the full loop takes 2–3 hours at a leisurely pace.

Seasonal note: Best in autumn and spring; hot and humid in summer (Jun–Aug), rain possible year-round.
