Meštrović Gallery
Split, Croatia
About This Activity
The Meštrović Gallery occupies the grand seaside villa Ivan Meštrović built as his summer residence in the 1930s, now housing a permanent collection of over 190 sculptures spanning his entire career. Meštrović is widely considered Croatia's greatest artist, his powerful figurative works in marble, bronze, and wood shaped by the region's tumultuous 20th-century history. Note: the gallery is currently partially accessible due to ongoing energy renovation works — the main exhibition space is temporarily closed but the garden, garden sculptures, and architecture remain open at a reduced ticket price of €6 (normally €12); the ticket also includes a visit to Meštrović's Crikvine-Kaštilac estate. A 20-minute walk along the Riva promenade from the Old Town.
