About This Activity

Zagreb's Uspinjača funicular has connected the Lower and Upper Town since 1890 — just 66 metres long, one of the world's shortest public funicular lines. It completed a major €7.2 million overhaul (closed January 2025–March 2026) with new air-conditioned cabins, track replacement, and disabled access improvements, reopening in spring 2026. It deposits you steps from the Lotrščak Tower, a medieval defensive structure from the 13th century with sweeping panoramas of Zagreb and the surrounding hills. Every day at noon, a cannon is fired from the tower — a tradition since 1877. The funicular ticket is just €0.66 each way.
