About This Activity

Mirogoj is widely considered one of Europe's finest cemeteries — a park-like 28-hectare space enclosed by a sweeping ivy-covered Renaissance arcade with cupolas. Designed by Herman Bollé in 1876, it serves all faiths and houses elaborate tombs of Croatian presidents, artists, and intellectuals alongside ordinary citizens. The monumental entrance arcade, bronze sculptures, and meticulously maintained gardens give it an atmosphere more akin to a museum than a burial ground. Entry is free. A 20-minute tram ride (Tram 106) from Ban Jelačić Square, or a pleasant uphill 35-minute walk from the Upper Town through Cmrok Park.
