About This Activity

India Gate is a 42-metre triumphal arch honouring the 90,000 Indian soldiers who died in WWI, flanked since 2022 by the newly inaugurated National War Memorial honouring post-independence soldiers. The boulevard — renamed Kartavya Path (Path of Duty) from Rajpath in September 2022 after a major Central Vista redevelopment — runs from here to Rashtrapati Bhavan with new lawns, canopied walkways, and food kiosks. The perspective toward the Presidential Palace at sunset, with the arch silhouetted, remains one of Delhi's great free sights.

Seasonal note: Oct–Mar is ideal; pleasant evenings for picnics on the lawns. Avoid peak summer afternoons (May–Jun, 40°C+).
