About This Activity

A warung is Bali's version of a neighbourhood eatery — humble, family-run, and serving some of the best food on the island at a fraction of tourist restaurant prices. The definitive order is nasi campur: a mound of steamed rice surrounded by small portions of lawar (spiced minced meat and coconut), sate lilit (spiced minced fish grilled on lemongrass skewers), crispy fried tempeh, jackfruit curry, and a boiled egg. Wash it down with a fresh young coconut or sweet es campur (shaved ice with coconut milk). Seek out family warungs in Renon, Sanur, or Kreneng market for the most authentic experience.
