Koutoubia Mosque & Gardens, Marrakech
Marrakech, Morocco
About This Activity
The Koutoubia Mosque (1158) is Marrakech's most famous landmark and the tallest structure in the city, its magnificent minaret visible from miles around and the model for the Giralda in Seville and the Hassan Tower in Rabat. Non-Muslims may not enter the mosque itself, but the surrounding gardens — planted with orange trees, roses, and fountains — are open to all and offer the best views of the minaret. The mosque anchors the western edge of the medina, making it the natural starting point for any exploration.
Seasonal note: Year-round; exterior and gardens open to all
