About This Activity

Set in the verdant Auckland Domain, the War Memorial Museum holds some of New Zealand's most significant taonga (treasures) across natural history, war memorial, and Pacific collections. The Maori court features a carved meeting house and a full-size waka taua (war canoe); daily cultural performances include haka, poi, and waiata. Note that as of 2025, Te Marae Atea Maori Court and Pacific Galleries are temporarily closed for essential maintenance work — check the museum website before visiting. International visitors pay NZ$27 for general admission; NZ residents enter free.

Seasonal note: Open year-round; summer draws the most visitors. Quieter on weekday mornings.
