Pachacamac Archaeological Site
Lima, Peru
About This Activity
Pachacamac is a sacred city occupied continuously from 200 CE through the Inca period, 40 km south of Lima. The vast site encompasses the Painted Temple, the Temple of the Sun, and an excellent modern museum housing the original carved idol of Pachacamac and richly decorated funerary textiles. A half-day trip with guide costs around $30–50 including transport; a self-guided visit with entry (~$12 USD) is also possible but guides add significant value here.
Seasonal note: Year-round; avoid peak midday heat in summer (Jan–Mar) by starting early. Site is exposed with little shade — bring water and sunscreen.
