Praia de Benagil is the launching point for one of Portugal's most iconic experiences: entering the domed Benagil sea cave (Algar de Benagil) by kayak, paddleboard, or small tour boat. The cave's circular roof opening floods the interior with sunlight onto a small sandy beach. Book a guided tour from Lagos or rent a kayak at Benagil beach for the short paddle around the headland.
Seasonal note: Tours run April–October; best May–Sept when seas are calm and the cave's skylit interior shines. Book well in advance for July–August. Winter tours are limited and may be cancelled due to rough seas.
