Hyeopjae Beach & Biyangdo Island
Jeju Island, South Korea
About This Activity
Hyeopjae Beach on Jeju's western coast is consistently rated the island's most beautiful beach — a 300m stretch of fine white sand with water shifting from pale turquoise to deep teal, flanked by pine groves and backed by black volcanic rock. The beach faces tiny Biyangdo Island, 0.5km² and reachable by ferry from Hallim Port (~15 min, ~4 departures daily). Biyangdo has volcanic crater hikes and pampas grass trails you can complete in 2–3 hours. The beach is free and part of Jeju Olle Trail Route 14.
Seasonal note: Year-round for beach walks; swimming season June–September. Ferry to Biyangdo can be suspended in bad weather — check before visiting.
