Manjanggul Lava Tube — UNESCO Cave Walk
Jeju Island, South Korea
About This Activity
Manjanggul is a UNESCO World Heritage lava tube stretching 7.4km (1km open to the public), formed 300,000 years ago when a lava flow's outer crust hardened while molten rock inside drained away. The arched tunnel reaches 18m high, with walls revealing lava stalactites, flowstone, and the world's largest lava column (7.6m) at the far end. The constant 11°C temperature is a cool refuge in summer. Note: the cave underwent facility maintenance with reopening scheduled for March 2026 — confirm current status before visiting. Entry ₩4,000 per adult.
Seasonal note: Year-round; interior stays at a constant 11°C making it an especially welcome stop in hot summer months. Verify reopening status after 2026 maintenance.
