Seongsan Ilchulbong Sunrise Peak — UNESCO
Jeju Island, South Korea
About This Activity
Seongsan Ilchulbong (Sunrise Peak) is a UNESCO World Heritage volcanic tuff cone rising 182m from the sea at the eastern tip of Jeju. The 20-minute stone staircase hike rewards with a cauldron-shaped green crater bowl and sweeping ocean views. Entry ₩5,000 per adult for the summit trail (free-entry lower coastal trail also available). Haenyeo (female free-divers) perform daily diving demonstrations below the cliffs. Seasonal hours vary (4:30–20:00 in summer; 6:00–18:00 in winter); buy tickets on-site or at automated machines.
Seasonal note: Year-round; best sunrise experiences in spring and autumn with clearer skies. Summer humidity reduces visibility and draws the largest crowds.
