Izmir Kordon Promenade Walk
Izmir, Turkey
About This Activity
The Kordon is Izmir's beloved waterfront promenade stretching along the Gulf of Izmir. Start at Konak Square with its ornate Ottoman clock tower (1901) and the tiny Konak Mosque, then walk north along the palm-lined seaside path past horse-drawn carriages, open-air tea gardens, and the striking Asansör (historic elevator) in the Karataş quarter. At sunset, the promenade fills with locals jogging, cycling, and sipping çay as the sun drops behind the Aegean islands. The lively Alsancak neighborhood at the north end has excellent restaurants and bars.
Seasonal note: Best Apr-Jun and Sep-Nov; pleasant year-round
