Costanera Sur Ecological Reserve
Buenos Aires, Argentina
About This Activity
The Reserva Ecologica Costanera Sur is Buenos Aires' most surprising attraction: a 350-hectare urban nature reserve created accidentally when a failed landfill project was colonized by native wetland plants and wildlife. Today it's home to 350 bird species, river otters, and native trees, all within walking distance of Puerto Madero's skyscrapers. Trails are flat and well-maintained. Free entry. Best visited early morning for birdwatching or late afternoon for sunset over the Rio de la Plata.
Seasonal note: Year-round; spring brings migratory birds. Closed Mondays.
