Teatro Colón is consistently ranked among the top five opera houses in the world for its extraordinary acoustics and sumptuous Beaux-Arts interior. Daily guided tours in English run from 10am to 4:45pm in 50-minute sessions, covering the Main Hall, Golden Hall, and Gallery of Busts; admission is approximately $22 USD. The building took 18 years to construct (1889–1908) and seats 2,478 under a 50-meter painted dome.
