Feria de Mataderos — Gaucho Fair
Buenos Aires, Argentina
About This Activity
The Feria de Mataderos is Buenos Aires' most authentic gaucho experience — a sprawling Sunday market in the working-class Mataderos neighborhood. Gauchos on horseback compete in the sortija (ring-spearing at full gallop), folk musicians play chacarera and zamba, and food stalls serve locro (corn stew), humitas, and empanadas from the Argentine provinces. Much more local than touristy San Telmo — expect mostly Argentine families. Runs Sundays from 11am to dusk, March through December.
Seasonal note: Sundays only, March-December. No fair in January-February.
