Floralis Genérica & Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes, Recoleta
Buenos Aires, Argentina
About This Activity
Floralis Genérica is a 23-metre stainless steel flower sculpture in Plaza de las Naciones Unidas whose petals open at dawn and close at dusk, powered by solar-hydraulic mechanisms. Directly across Avenida Figueroa Alcorta, the Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes holds Argentina's finest art collection — Rodin, Monet, Renoir, Sorolla, and major Argentine masters — with free admission Tuesday–Sunday. Combined with a stroll along Recoleta's elegant Avenida Alvear, this makes an outstanding free cultural morning. Museum open Tue–Fri 11am–8pm, Sat–Sun 10am–8pm, closed Mondays.
Seasonal note: Year-round; museum closed Mondays. The sculpture is most impressive at sunrise (petals opening) or dusk (closing).
