About This Activity

The Reserva Ecológica Costanera Sur is Buenos Aires' most surprising attraction: a 350-hectare urban nature reserve created when a failed 1970s landfill project was spontaneously colonized by native wetland plants and wildlife. Today it harbors over 350 bird species, capybaras, river otters, and ancient native trees — all within walking distance of Puerto Madero. Trails are flat and free. Best visited early morning for birdwatching or late afternoon for spectacular Rio de la Plata sunsets. Open Tuesday–Sunday; closed Mondays.

Seasonal note: Year-round; spring (Sep–Nov) brings migratory birds. Closed Mondays.
