Templo Libertad & Museo Judío de Buenos Aires
Buenos Aires, Argentina
About This Activity
Templo de la Congregación Israelita on Calle Libertad is Argentina's most important synagogue — a Romanesque Revival masterpiece inaugurated in 1897. The basement Museo Judío de Buenos Aires (~ARS 3,000 / ~$3) covers Jewish immigration to Argentina from the 1880s agricultural colonies (the Jewish Gauchos) to modern cultural contributions. Argentina became the third-largest Jewish community in the world after WWII. The synagogue is still active for Shabbat services. Visits by arrangement during weekdays.
