Garden of the Gods is a free public park (guaranteed free forever by the original 1909 deed) featuring dramatic 300-million-year-old red sandstone formations set against snow-capped Pikes Peak. Choose from 15 miles of trails past iconic formations like Balanced Rock, Kissing Camels, and Cathedral Spires. The free Visitor & Nature Center has geology and ecology exhibits. Open year-round 5 AM–9 PM (summer) or 5 AM–7 PM (winter); no reservations needed. Arrive before 9 AM on summer weekends to get parking.
Seasonal note: Open year-round. Spring and fall ideal; summer mornings are best before crowds arrive.
