About This Activity

Pikes Peak — dubbed 'America's Mountain' for inspiring the song 'America the Beautiful' — is the most-visited 14er in Colorado. You can reach the 14,115-foot summit three ways: drive the 19-mile Pikes Peak Highway ($18/adult, $8/child; timed entry permit $2/vehicle required May-Sep), ride the Broadmoor Manitou & Pikes Peak Cog Railway ($67 adults, $57 children, ~3 hours round trip), or hike the challenging 13-mile Barr Trail. At the top, the Pikes Peak Summit Visitor Center (opened June 2021) is a stunning 38,000 sq ft complex at the highest elevation in the world, featuring a restaurant serving the famous high-altitude doughnuts, exhibits on local ecology, and 360-degree panoramic views stretching across four states.
