About This Activity

Al-Muizz li-Din Allah Street is the main artery of Islamic Cairo and contains the world's greatest concentration of medieval Islamic architectural treasures, all within a 1km stretch. After dark, the mosques, mausoleums, and Mamluk palaces are dramatically lit, transforming the narrow pedestrian street into a magical corridor. Key landmarks along the route include the ornate Qalawun Complex (1284), the Mosque of al-Nasir Muhammad, the Beit al-Suhaymi mansion, and the Khan el-Khalili bazaar at the southern end. Street vendors sell sugar cane juice, koshary, and ful medames along the way. This is one of Cairo's most memorable evening experiences.
