Chianti Classico Wine Tour from Florence
Florence, Italy
About This Activity
The Chianti Classico DOCG zone begins 30km south of Florence — its Sangiovese-dominated reds are among Italy's most celebrated wines. Small-group tours (8–12 people, €85–130 pp) visit two working estates for cellar tours and barrel tastings, followed by a farmhouse lunch with local cheeses and salumi. Independent visitors can follow the SR222 Chiantigiana road by rental car, stopping at estates that display the Gallo Nero (Black Rooster) emblem. Harvest season (September–October) adds the spectacle of grape picking.
Seasonal note: Harvest Sept–Oct brings vendemmia (grape picking); wildflowers May; avoid July–Aug summer heat; tours run year-round
