Mercato Centrale & San Lorenzo Food Tour, Florence
Florence, Italy
About This Activity
The Mercato Centrale is Florence's two-story covered food hall: the ground floor is a working food market with butchers, cheese counters, pasta makers, and fishmongers; the upper floor (open daily until midnight) is a modern food court with stalls serving bistecca, lampredotto (tripe sandwich), fresh pasta, gelato, and craft beer. Kids enjoy watching pasta being made and choosing their own pizza slices. The surrounding San Lorenzo street market is the city's main outdoor leather and clothing bazaar. Self-guided visits are free; food tours (€65–75 per person) add context and 5–6 tastings.
Seasonal note: Year-round; upper food hall open daily until midnight; best autumn produce
