Piazzale Michelangelo Sunset Experience
Florence, Italy
About This Activity
Piazzale Michelangelo, a short bus or uphill walk from central Florence, offers the city's most iconic sunset view. The Renaissance-era bronze David replica overlooks red-tiled rooftops, the Duomo's dome, and the Arno winding through the valley. Arrive 45 minutes before sunset to secure a good spot. Bring a picnic or wine from a nearby shop, and plan 2 hours total. The descent takes 30 minutes to the Ponte Vecchio area.
Seasonal note: Year-round free viewpoint; sunset time ranges from 5pm (Dec) to 9pm (Jun) — plan accordingly; most atmospheric in spring and early autumn
