About This Activity

Venice is 2 hours from Florence by Frecciarossa (from €25) — fast enough for a manageable day trip if you start early. Walk from Santa Lucia station across the Rialto Bridge to St. Mark's Basilica and Doge's Palace, then get deliberately lost in the sestieri backstreets. Avoid the vaporetto in favor of walking — the distances are shorter than they look on a map. Visit the Accademia Gallery or Peggy Guggenheim Collection if you want more than the main landmarks. Return on a 7-8 PM train.

* Rialto Bridge * Accademia Gallery of Venice * Teatro la Fenice * Church of I Frari * Bridge of Sighs

Seasonal note: Avoid November acqua alta flooding; summer extremely crowded
