Merenid Tombs Sunset Viewpoint
Fes, Morocco
About This Activity
The ruined Merenid Tombs on the hill north of the medina offer the best panoramic view of Fes. The 14th-century tombs themselves are atmospheric ruins, but the real draw is the sweeping vista over the ancient medina below, with hundreds of minarets, satellite dishes, and terraces stretching to the horizon. Visit at sunset when the golden light bathes the city, or at dusk when the call to prayer echoes from every direction. Take a taxi up and walk back down for safety.
Seasonal note: Best at sunset year-round; take a taxi up for safety
