About This Activity
The Kawarau Bridge opened in 1988 as the world's first commercial bungy jump site and remains the sport's spiritual home. The 43-metre drop above the turquoise Kawarau River is genuinely emotional — canyon walls rise on both sides, and spectators on the viewing platform make it surprisingly sociable. Adult tickets from NZ$320, including a photo and video package. AJ Hackett also operates the 47m Ledge Bungy above Queenstown town centre and the 134m Nevis Bungy (New Zealand's highest) further inland. The Kawarau viewing area is free — you can watch the jumpers without participating.
Seasonal note: Open year-round; closes only in severe weather.
