Kawarau Bridge Bungy Jump — World's First
Queenstown, New Zealand
About This Activity
The Kawarau Bridge opened in 1988 as the world's first commercial bungy jump site and remains the sport's spiritual home. The 43-metre drop above the turquoise Kawarau River is genuinely emotional — canyon walls rise on both sides, and the crowd of spectators on the viewing platform makes it surprisingly sociable. Adult tickets from NZ$320, including a photo and video package. AJ Hackett also operates the 47m Ledge Bungy above town and the 134m Nevis Bungy (New Zealand's highest) further out. The Kawarau viewing area is free — you can watch without jumping.
Seasonal note: Open year-round; closes only in severe weather
