Table Mountain Hike via Platteklip Gorge
Cape Town, South Africa
About This Activity
Platteklip Gorge is the classic hiking route up Table Mountain, taking roughly 2 hours to climb and 1.5 hours to descend (or take the cable car down). The well-marked path rises through a natural ravine carved by a stream, with increasingly dramatic views over the city and harbour as you ascend. At the summit you join the cable car visitors and can explore the plateau trails. Start early to avoid afternoon cloud ('the tablecloth') and summer heat. Sturdy shoes and water are essential.
