About This Activity

Beomeosa Temple sits in the pine-forested slopes of Geumjeongsan Mountain above Busan and is one of three major temples of southeast Korea. Founded in 678 AD, its three-story stone pagoda, carved gate guardians, and courtyards provide a serene escape from the city below. Take Bus 90 from Beomeosa Metro Station (Line 1) to the parking lot, then walk 20 minutes through forest to the temple. Entry is free. Overnight temple stay programs (released two months ahead; book via templestay.com) include meditation, morning dharma ceremonies, forest walks, and vegetarian meals with monks.

Seasonal note: Year-round; autumn foliage in October and spring blossoms in April make the mountain forest walk especially beautiful.
