About This Activity

Centro Sefarad-Israel in the Palacio de Cañete (free admission) is Spain's official center for Sephardic culture — exhibitions, concerts, and lectures reconnecting Spain with its Jewish past. Madrid's Jewish history is less visible than Barcelona or Toledo, but the city's role in the 1492 Edict of Expulsion makes it central to the Sephardic story. The nearby streets around Calle de la Fe ('Street of Faith') trace the old judería. Spain's 2015 Sephardic citizenship law brought thousands of descendants back — many to Madrid first. The Comunidad Judía de Madrid operates a modern synagogue in the Chamberí district.
