About This Activity
The Palacio Real is the official residence of the Spanish royal family, though they use it only for state ceremonies. With 3,418 rooms it is the largest functioning royal palace in Europe by floor area. Visit the State Rooms with their frescoed ceilings by Tiepolo and Mengs, the Royal Armory housing one of the world's finest collections of medieval and Renaissance armor, and the Royal Chapel. Standard tickets are €12 for adults (€6 reduced); free entry on weekdays during certain afternoon hours — check patrimonio.nacional.es for current free-entry windows.
Seasonal note: Year-round. Changing of the Guard ceremony runs on the first Wednesday of each month at noon (free to watch from outside).
