About This Activity

El Rastro has been held every Sunday and public holiday since the 15th century, sprawling across La Latina neighborhood's sloping streets. Over 3,500 stalls sell antiques, vintage clothing, vinyl records, tools, bric-a-brac, and handmade crafts. The atmosphere is as much a social event as a shopping trip — madrileños gather for the post-market vermut in the tapas bars of Cava Baja and La Latina. Only runs Sunday mornings (9 AM–3 PM) and public holidays. Watch for pickpockets in the densest crowd sections.

Seasonal note: Sundays and public holidays only, 9 AM–3 PM. Summer months see the most vendors but also the most heat. Avoid rainy Sundays when many stalls close.
