About This Activity

The Templo de Debod is a genuine ancient Egyptian temple, dismantled stone-by-stone and gifted to Spain in 1968 in recognition of Spain's help preserving Nubian monuments threatened by the Aswan Dam. Rebuilt in a park above the Manzanares River, the temple faces west, making sunset visits spectacular — the reflection pool turns golden as the sun drops behind the Casa de Campo. The interior can be visited for free, with displays on ancient Egyptian religion and the dam rescue operation. Exterior views at dusk are the real draw.

Seasonal note: Year-round. Best at sunset; spring and autumn evenings are warm and the light is golden. Closed Mondays.
