About This Activity

The Barrio de Santa Cruz was Seville's judería before the 1391 pogroms and 1492 expulsion. The maze of narrow streets, flower-draped patios, and hidden plazas preserves the medieval Jewish quarter's layout. Look for the Calle de la Judería and Plaza de Santa Cruz (the former synagogue site, now a church). The Centro de Interpretación Judería de Sevilla (€6.50) documents the community's golden age when Seville was a center of Jewish intellectual life. Samuel ha-Levi, who later built Toledo's El Tránsito synagogue, was born here.

Seasonal note: Year-round; avoid midday summer heat, spring flowers make it especially atmospheric
