About This Activity

The Big Buddha of Phuket sits on the Nakkerd Hills at 382 meters above sea level, visible from much of the island. The 45-meter-tall Maravija Buddha image is covered in white Burmese marble with panoramic views from Chalong Bay to the west-coast beaches. Note: the site was closed in August 2024 following a landslide and as of early 2026 has had limited reopening periods — verify the current access status before visiting. Admission is free; sarongs required at the entrance. Combine with Wat Chalong, Phuket's most important working temple, a short drive away.

Seasonal note: Confirm reopening status before visiting; when open, best in dry season (Nov–Apr) for clear hilltop views
