Pottery Workshop in Avanos
Capitol Reef, Turkey
About This Activity
The town of Avanos on the banks of the Kızılırmak (Red River) has been a pottery center for over 4,000 years, thanks to the river's iron-rich red clay. Visit a traditional workshop to watch master potters demonstrate their craft, then try your hand at the wheel. You'll shape, decorate, and glaze a piece to take home. The town's underground pottery museum, Chez Galip, adds a quirky counterpoint with its hair museum containing samples from over 16,000 women.
Seasonal note: Year-round indoor
