The Củ Chi tunnel network — 250km of underground passages northwest of Ho Chi Minh City — was used by Viet Cong fighters for command centers, field hospitals, kitchens, and sleeping quarters. Tours let you enter enlarged tunnel sections, see trap doors, booby traps, and weapons demonstrations. Choose Ben Duoc over Ben Dinh: it's less crowded with deeper historical context. Entry is 125,000 VND (~$5) per person; guided half-day tours from HCMC run $17–25 total including transport, departing 7:30am and returning by 1pm.
Seasonal note: Year-round; dry season (Nov–Apr) is more comfortable. Tunnels are hot and humid in wet season (May–Oct); depart early to avoid midday heat.
