About This Activity

Ho Chi Minh City's most photographed landmarks stand side by side on Paris Commune Square in District 1. The Basilica of Notre-Dame of Saigon (1880) was built from materials entirely imported from France; the twin campaniles and terracotta brickwork have undergone restoration in recent years. Adjacent, the Saigon Central Post Office (1891) attributed to Gustave Eiffel features a grand barrel-vaulted interior, vintage maps of Saigon, and a large Ho Chi Minh portrait — still a functioning post office. The post office interior is free; cathedral exterior is the main draw (interior access varies). Together they represent the French colonial city's architectural peak.

Seasonal note: Year-round; best in the morning light. Exterior best photographed early before tour groups arrive.
