About This Activity

The Alpe di Siusi (Seiser Alm) is Europe's largest high-altitude Alpine meadow — 56 sq km of plateau at 1,800–2,350m framed by the jagged Sciliar massif and Sassolungo peak. From Bolzano: train to Castelrotto/Kastelruth (30 min), then the Cabinovia Alpe di Siusi gondola to the plateau (round-trip ~€35). Color-coded trails range from easy 2-hour meadow loops to demanding 6-hour ridge circuits; all offer extraordinary views of this UNESCO World Heritage landscape. The meadow is car-free in summer — only gondola, local bus, or shuttle access. Pack layers: conditions change quickly above 2,000m.

Seasonal note: Meadows accessible June–October; peak wildflowers July–August; gondola closed in winter
