About This Activity

The South Tyrol Museum of Archaeology houses the world's most celebrated prehistoric discovery: Ötzi, a naturally mummified man who died in the Alps around 3,300 BC and was found in a glacier in 1991. Visitors view his preserved body through a refrigerated window, then examine his astonishingly intact equipment — copper axe, flint knife, bow and arrows, woven grass cape — in detail. Multilingual displays explain what DNA analysis, gut content studies, and forensic investigation have revealed about his life and violent death. Admission is €13 (concession available); book online in advance as daily capacity is limited. Allow 1.5–2 hours.

Seasonal note: Year-round indoor; excellent rainy-day option; closed Mondays
