A Venetian day trip highlight: take vaporetto Line 3 or 4.1 from Fondamente Nove to Murano (15 min), where glass workshops have operated since 1291. Watch free glassblowing demonstrations at master studios — kids are mesmerized by the molten glass and fire — then visit the Glass Museum (Museo del Vetro, €10). Continue on Line 12 to Burano (45 min), a fishing village of intensely painted houses reflected in canals — best photographed in morning light. A day vaporetto pass (€25) covers all transport; the islands themselves are free to walk. Budget 6 hours for a relaxed pace.
